Urticaria

Urticaria or hives describes an eruption of itchy wheals (welts) which may be of a size from 5 mm (0.2 inch) to more than 10 inch. Mostly it is caused by an allergic reaction and characterized by a raised red skin wheal. But sometimes Urticaria is not caused by Allergic reaction and in these cases it has some another causes as induced by Heat, Sweating, Cold, Pressure, Sun exposure, Emotional stress and some depressive events.

Urticaria is generally caused by direct contact with an allergenic substance, or an immune response to food or some other allergen. Urticaria or Hives may last from few hours to few days. Sometimes sweating, headache, vertigo, low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting may present with Urticaria. Urticaria may involve any part of body.

Treatment

Allopathic Treatment for Urticaria is mainly Anti-allergic drugs in the form of Anti- histamines as cetirizine, diphenhydramine, hydroxyzine.
